TA Securities raised its rating on Bursa Malaysia Bhd to 'buy' from 'hold', citing the upside from various initiatives expected to boost trading activities on the local bourse.
The ASEAN Trading Link launched in September, linking stock exchanges in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand by October, is expected to spur trade especially among foreign investors, said TA in a report on today.
"With the various initiatives in place, Bursa Malaysia appears on track to achieve some of its mid-term targets, in our view," TA said.
The brokerage raised its target price for Bursa Malaysia to RM7.20 from RM6.95, expecting a potential upside of 15 percent for the stock.
The company's results for the second quarter ended June 30 were bolstered by the 14 listings in Malaysia since January, increasing listing fees 2.2 percent as funds raised in the market grew 77 percent to 22.8 billion, TA said.
Shares of the company were down 0.63 per cent at RM6.35 ringgit at 1109 am (0309 GMT). - Reuters
